MSSL's Sean Smith runs to support The Bodie Hodges Foundation
Managing Director Sean Smith has completed the largest half marathon in the world - The Great North Run.
Sean completed the 13.1 mile course in 1 hour 55 minutes and 15 seconds - particularly impressive given his training hadn’t fully gone to plan.
Admitting he wasn’t feeling fully ready for the challenge as he headed for the start line, Sean was pleased to finish in the time he did.
Sean was quick off the mark and credited his speedy start to the crowd's support carrying him an extra few kilometres per minute in the opening few miles.
But he was forced to slow down at the 8 mile mark when his heart rate hit 192 beats per minute!
Despite battling the uphill sections, the wet weather, blisters and being forced to steady his pace, Sean still completed the course with a sub two hour time on the stopwatch.
Out of 60,000 runners, Sean finished 11,972th - a result he was more than happy with.
Running to raise money and awareness for The Bodie Hodges Foundation - a charity supporting families bereaved of a child. The total raised by #TeamBodie from The Great North Run so far is £14,112 plus Gift Aid.
Sean’s Great North Run success comes only a few months after he finished the London Marathon with a personal best time of 4 hours 48 minutes and 28 seconds.
His attention now moves to planning the next challenges.
